C.O.A.S.T. , now the proud owners of the Lamlash Tennis Courts and pavilion, has a 5 year plan that will include the construction of a purpose-built Marine Discovery Centre.
The first stage is well under way and involves the conversion of the pavilion into offices, meeting rooms and an interim Display Centre – to be opened later this summer.
Andrew Binnie (Executive Director of C.O.A.S.T.) describes the approach as “one step at a time” and the phased development will rely on our fundraising efforts.
The new centre will serve as Arran’s MPA (Marine Protected Area) headquarters but worry not if you play tennis – Two courts will be upgraded and kept open for public use. Details of hire charges here.
Staff and volunteers are making good progress with all the work, however more help will be needed and all volunteers will be warmly welcomed in helping us to realise this plan.
We would like to name our new base “The Octopus”. Any views? What do you think? Get in touch.
